OM Balls

Chia Seed balls.

Dates

Coconut oil

 

Put equal parts of chia seeds and dates into a food processor.  1 packet of each is good if you have a big enough food processor.

 

Put the chia seeds in first. Add the dates a few at a time.

Melt coconut oil, you can do this by putting the jar in hot water.

Add about 1/4 cup of coconut oil, more or less until the consistency is wet through.

Put the whole bowl with blade in the fridge for half an hour or more.

If you leave it too long and it goes solid, just blend another burst.

Roll into balls (or easter eggs) and either eat, freeze, or refrigerate.

You can skip the chilling stage, and just add a tablespoon of water at a time if the mixture won’t bind.

Optional extras. Take out some chia seeds and instead add in

  • shredded coconut
  • seeds or nuts
  • oats

 

Other flavouring, add in some, all or none:

  • vanilla essence
  • crystalised ginger
  • ground cinnamon
  • cocoa powder
  • Cocoa nibs

To make it really chocolatey – melt chocolate and add that. Or get cocoa butter from the health food store and melt that to add instead of the coconut oil.
